The Grasmere Chocolate Dipper - a new Lake District lollipop!

The Grasmere Gingerbread Shop is donating 20p from each sale of the Grasmere Chocolate Dipper to Cumbria Wildlife Trust which manages more than 40 nature reserves across Cumbria and is delighted with the support it will receive from sales of this delicious lollipop. It's the latest charitable initiative by the 160 year-old business which prides itself on its local roots and helping conservation projects in the area. The latest donation of £250 was presented to Michelle Waller, Publicity Officer of Cumbria Wildlife Trust, outside the Grasmere Gingerbread Shop.

Dippers live and breed in local nature reserves and are iconic birds seen in Lake District rivers. When perched on river rocks, the dipper constantly dips up and down and frequently cocks its tail. It can swim underwater while feeding on larvae, fish eggs and molluscs.

David Harpley, Cumbria Wildlife Trust Conservation Manager, said: 'Fund-raising initiatives like this are incredibly important as they not only raise money for wildlife but also the profile of Cumbria Wildlife Trust which protects some of our priceless countryside.'
